Welcome to Troop 216!

Troop 216 Troop 216 has been serving the Alamo, Danville and Walnut Creek communities for 65 years. We are proud to be the oldest chartered troop in the Meridian District. The troop has consistently earned the Quality Unit Award – Gold Level, each year for leadership, outdoor programs and scout accomplishments.

FALL ADVANCE CAMP - Sept. 23rd w/ Online Registration opening August 1st!

Advance Camp is a one-day event where the scouts can work on one or two Merit Badges, complete partial Merit Badges, or complete advancement requirements (Trailhead).   This camp offers over 60 different MBs and many rank requirements.  If your scout wasn’t able to attend summer camp, this is a great one-day event for him. Don’t miss out on this fun Scout day!  CAMP REGISTRATION OPENS on AUGUST 1st.  This event will take place on Saturday, September 23rd at the Contra Costa Fairgrounds in Antioch, CA.  This is a troop event, so all sign ups are completed on the Troop website not the Advance Camp website.  Merit Badge sessions are on a first come – first serve basis, and they do fill up.  DETAILS ARE UNDER THE CALENDAR.  Click on the date and event.  It is very important to get your Scout signed up on the Troop website, help him choose his MBs or Trailhead selections, get his choices posted on the Troop Google Doc, and submit payment to Sawako Donohue or Venmo payment to Troop Treasurer Donna Courington, plus two copies of his BSA Consent Form to Dee Monolakis.  Payment must be received in order for the troop to register your Scout for his sessions.

SVMS Service Project - August 24th

A Scout is Friendly, Helpful, and Courteous. Show your Scout Spirit and volunteer to help at Stone Valley Middle School's Back to School Night on August 24th - Thursday from 6-7:15PM!  The troop will have an informational table for becoming a Troop 216 Boy Scout, and assist Back to School parents with school maps and directions to their first classrooms.  Parents and Scout volunteers will help get the word out about Boy Scouts and Troop 216.  Scout volunteers will also hand out maps of the school and assist parents get to their first classrooms.  Class A required.  Questions?  Please contact Susan Rock

PLC Meeting - August 8th

Scout Leaders, the next PLC Meeting will be Tuesday, August 8th.  This will be your chance to plan the upcoming month’s activities.  Mandatory attendance for all Scouts in a Leadership position.  If you can not make the meeting, please contact SPL Ben W. and SMs Tim Tucker and Thomas Tish.  The school is closed, so we will meet at Panera Bread – The Vault, unless you receive notice of a new location.

Committee Meeting – August 8th

The next Committee Meeting is August 8th. All parents are invited to attend the first Committee Meeting of the Scout year! The Executive Committee has made the decision that Committee Meetings will take place on the 2nd Tuesday of the month from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm.  This is to facilitate attendance by the Scoutmaster(s) who have previously been torn between the PLC and the Committee Meeting and could not fully participate.  The change will also encourage attendance of a broader range of scout parents, not just parents of scouts holding a leadership position.

Stone Valley Middle School Service Project - August 12th

Community Service Project for Stone Valley Middle School on August 12th, 9-11AM.  Juice and donuts provided.  Stone Valley Middle School, San Ramon Valley School District has allowed Troop 216 to utilize their multi-purpose room, teacher’s lounge, classroom for Troop meetings and other troop related meetings.  This comes at no monetary cost to the troop.  Please help the troop by giving back to the school.  Adult volunteers needed too!

The group will plant new plants in planter boxes, pull weeds from the planter boxes and general clean up around the school areas.  Please come prepared; bring water bottle for drinking, garden / work gloves, small shovel / trowel, broom and dustpan and 2-3 gallons of water in a large bucket or plastic container for watering the plants at the end.  Questions?  Contact Troop Organizer Susan Rock at bocceballer@yahoo.com.

BSA Popcorn Sales 2017 - Sign Up by August 22nd!

Troop 216 will be participating in the annual BSA Popcorn Fundraiser!  This year, Troop Scouts can earn individual sales proceeds.  This is a change from last year, and back to way proceeds were dispersed in previous years!  This is the only troop fundraiser, which Scouts can earn money towards troop activities (outings and summer camps).  Scouts will earn a minimum of 31% commission on what they sell.  FURTHER DETAILS UNDER THE CALENDAR SECTION.  Please sign up on the Troop website today if your Scout will participate in BSA Popcorn Sales!  Please indicate in the Notes Section, if they want to participate in Individual Sales (includes Online Sales, Door-to-Door Sales), Site Sales or both.  Sign up by August 22nd so that the Site Sales Group can get organized.
